The Devils Lake Fishing Report for the week of June 5th to June 11, 2017. Brought to you by Mitchell’s Guide Service. The largest, most experienced and professional guide service serving the Devils Lake basin.
And we have another week of great fishing Devils Lake, North Dakota in the books.
Despite a couple of passing weather disturbances bringing some much-needed rain for the area farmers, fishing reports from our guides have ranged from good to excellent. Some nice catches were made by our clients as our Facebook photos show. Overall the fishing on Devils Lake this year has been nothing short of astounding.
While bobbers are still working well, more aggressive presentations are beginning to succeed. Leeches and slip bobbers continue to work well over foliage and rock piles. As the water temperatures rise from the mid fifties to upper sixties the fish are becoming more active and eager to chase moving lures, thus increasing the effectiveness of crankbaits and spinners. If you do not have the means to troll, casting cranks is an engaging way to fish.
The fish being caught from the Devils Lake Basin are some of the largest in the country for their respective species. The walleye and northern have a good, diverse forage base. It is not uncommon to hear of 20-25 inch walleye or 30+ inch northern pike.
No matter how you like to fish, this is the time of year when there are many different ways to get your limit, making fishing on Devils Lake a lot of fun. We at Mitchell’s Guide Service would like to invite you to share in that fun.
