The Devil’s Lake fishing report for the week August 7st to August 13th, 2017. Brought to you by Mitchell’s Guide Service. The largest and most experienced professional Guide Service serving the Devils Lake basin.
Check out these photos! Another great week of fishing with Mitchell’s Guide Service at Devils Lake, North Dakota is in the books! Not wanting to sound redundant, but the incredible fishing of the summer of 2017 here at Devil’s Lake continues almost unabated.
Good reports from our guides and recreational fishermen made for some very happy anglers. Quite a number of larger fish were caught and released this week with a few trophy walleye and pike headed to the taxidermist. Very good walleye fishing was the norm, other than a couple of dead calm bright sunny days that slowed the bite down. Still limits of eater walleye were taken by those willing to work at it.
The northern bite picked up this week with a number of northern pike caught in the 10 to 20 pound range. Good numbers of eater walleye in the 15 to 21 inch range were being reported caught and kept by our clients. The old reliable bottom bouncer and spinner combinations worked well. Trolling crankbaits at times also produced. A few of our guided groups caught walleye and pike jigging in deeper water. As diverse as Devil’s Lake is, good catches are being made throughout this vast fishery.

Fish are still being caught in deeper water, 20- 30 feet. Spinners and bottom bouncers are continuing to work well, and crank baits are starting to show success. Vertical jigging with a leech set up will also work in deep water or directly over structure or weeds.
