Creel Bay Plowed Trails and Ice Update

Saturday marks the 35th annual Devils Lake Volunteer Fire Department ice fishing tournament. Many have been wondering what the ice and snow conditions are like so here ya go

We have about 10 miles of trails plowed throughout Creel Bay. Do-it-yourself anglers can access the trails for a $10 fee out of Woodland. There is quite a bit of snow at the banks of the trails due to the most recent snowfall but there are also plenty of areas to get off of the trail, especially around Rocky and Military points, as well as Peterson’s point towards the North end of Creel.

Average ice thickness is 20”+ with anywhere from 7-15 inches of snow on top of the ice. If you’re not a four wheel drive, let er’ buck “trail-buster” but own a tracked rig, I’d definitely recommend bringing it to increase your mobility.

Baitshop and tackle store hours are 6:30 AM to 9 PM.

See you this weekend and good luck out there!
