Ice fishing season is upon us! We are seeing ice thicknesses of 10-12 inches throughout Creel Bay. Some of the smaller bays and lakes such as Pelican Lake and Lake Irvin have more than 14 inches of ice with full sized vehicles driving on those parts.
To target perch try fishing in depths between 22 and 40 feet in the mid to late mornings. For walleye target depths between 12 and 22 feet in the early morning and later evenings. The key to targeting both species look for structures such as rock piles. Popular tackle includes Buckshot and Moonshine lures in green, orange, and pink tipped with a minnow head, spikes or wax worms.
Good luck and stay safe to everyone heading out fishing this weekend!
