Fishing Report August 21st-27th

The Devil’s Lake fishing report for the week August 21st to August 27th, 2017. Brought to you by Mitchell’s Guide Service. The largest and most experienced, professional Guide Service serving the Devils Lake basin.

Summer is winding down, and school is starting for many. The great summer peak of walleye fishing has reached its zenith. The fishing here at Devil’s Lake is transitioning to the fall pattern that so many of us have been looking forward to. This has been the very best year for Mitchell’s Guide Service, both in numbers of clients and the excellent fishing our customers have enjoyed.

In fact it has been a record year already! However that certainly doesn’t mean that the fishing is ending. Fall fishing is just getting started! For many experienced, veteran anglers this is the favorite time of the year! The crowds have thinned, the fish have grown and are aggressively putting on weight for the winter. Those same finicky fish this spring have developed an appetite for even bigger baits and their instinct is to feed heavily with winter approaching.

Migrating waterfowl will soon fill the skies. The leaves will quickly start turning color. It is just a fantastic time to be on the water at Devils Lake, North Dakota fishing walleyes! The summer staple of bottom bouncers and spinners will soon give way to trolling crankbaits and vertical jigging with a variety of tackle. As I said before, there is no better time of the year to try your luck at the fabled Devil’s Lake walleye fishing. In addition the giant northern pike go on the bite and trophy pike are caught in the fall.

History has shown September and October to be true trophy walleye and pike months. What so many of us have eagerly anticipated is now just unfolding. We at MGS would like to extend to you an open invitation to come and join with us in the fun of fall fishing!

Mitchell’s Guide Service has openings in September and October with guides available on short notice for day trips or two and three day guided packages. We can and have handled groups of up to 50 anglers. One thing for certain, our staff of professional, experienced guides will work hard to see that your day of fishing is both memorable and productive. There is no better time than right now to get in on the incredible fall fishing that Devil’s Lake, North Dakota offers! Just pick up the phone and give us a call at 701-662-5996 extension 1. The fish are biting well right now, despite the recent heat. Spinner and bottom bouncer combos with night crawlers is still effective; but as fall approaches crank baits and jigging should start to prove more effective.
