The Devil’s Lake fishing report for the week of July 16th through the 22nd. Brought to you by Mitchell’s Guide Service the largest most experience profissional Guide Service serving the Devil’s Lake basin.
Well another week of fishing and summer fun is in the books and what a week it was! Our guides reported good fishing all week long. We are at midpoint in the summer peak of fishing. Once again we have had clients bringing limits of eater walleyes home. The average fish being caught is in the 15 to 21 inch range, however a number of larger walleye have been caught and released this week. The northern pike bite has slowed down, but some good sized pike are still being caught. The old tried-and-true bottom bouncer spinner combination is still the dominant presentation being used for catching summer walleye. The fish are still out in deeper water, avoiding the lake’s warm surface temperatures of 70+ degrees. Fish are being caught in a variety of locations. Bigger walleye and white bass are very prevalent in six mile bay, and walleye are being caught off of nearly every contoured point. Some notable locations include Military Point and Doc Hagens.
