The Devil’s Lake Fishing Report for the week of July 9th to July 15th, 2018. Brought to you by Mitchell’s Guide Service. The largest, most experienced, full time Guide Service serving the Devils Lake Basin.
Simply put, it has been another good week of summer fishing here at Devils Lake, North Dakota. The summer peak of walleye fishing is now in full swing. Bottom bouncers and spinners are currently dominating the presentations being used. Any “standard” spinner such as hammered gold and silver are working, but along with the classics, spinners with blue and pink are also attracting walleye. Trolling crank-baits is also effective, but with occasional passing thunderstorms and the accompanying wind, fouled lines from floating weeds have been prevalent. As we move into the second half of July and the month of August crank-bait trolling will become more effective. In order to have success with trolling in the heat, troll along deeper ridge lines. The fish appear to be mainly caught in 25-35 feet of water. A number of trophy fish have gone home and a few larger fish have also been released. In addition to the impressive trophy fish, anglers with MGS guides are bringing home their limits nearly every day.
