Along with the weather, the fishing has been heating up at Devils Lake North Dakota. Throughout this week we saw high temperatures and four days with little or no wind. Our guides and their clients have reported catching fish from 3 to 30 feet of water. Excellent catches of eater size walleyes in the 15 to 21 inch range have been common. In addition larger walleyes and pike are being caught on a daily basis.
To put it simply, this past week has been one of the best for fishing walleye. If you are adept at any presentation walleye can be caught right now. These past few weeks thunderstorms have appeared occasionally. With the storms caution is advised when traveling in the Devils Lake Basin by boat. With lower water levels more hazards are appearing and one needs to be aware of the potential threats at all times. If you are new to the Devil’s Lake area the best way to get accustomed to fishing Devil’s Lake is by hiring one of our guides for a day or two on the water. Our guides are experienced and they will work hard to see that not only is your day productive and memorable, but educational as well.
The next two and a half months will feature some of the best open water fishing Devil’s Lake has to offer. In addition, these two and a half months coming up will also see some of the most stable weather to help make enjoyable days of fishing even more possible.
