The Devil’s Lake Fishing Report for the week of June 4th to June 10th, 2018. Brought to you by Mitchell’s Guide Service. The largest, most experienced and professional full time Guide Service serving the Devils Lake basin.
This past week has been a transition week for the fish and the guides as the temperature of the lake continues to rise. The more engaging fishing styles are now becoming more effective. These methods include trolling spinners and bottom bouncers as well as casting and trolling crank baits. Using slip bobbers is still a viable method early in the morning and late at night, but it has not been as effective as it was in May.
This last week has been a rainy one, making fishing on the rainy days difficult but not impossible. There were many good limits of walleye and a few northern pike taken out of the lake this past week. As we get closer to the middle of June the amount of fish and size of fish should continue to increase. The Spirit Lake Casino fishing tournament took place over this last weekend, with one angler winning the tournament with over 40 pounds of fish. The anglers fished on virtually every part of Devils Lake, with no focus in one area. This is consistent with the Mitchell’s Guide Service, as all parts of the lake can be fished successfully. With that in mind, the summer fishing locations are becoming better and better.
The next two and a half months will feature some of the best open water fishing Devil’s Lake has to offer. In addition with these next two and a half months we will also see some of the most stable weather making fishing relaxing and enjoyable.
