The Devil’s Lake fishing report for the week July 31st to August 6th, 2017. Brought to you by Mitchell’s Guide Service. The largest and most experienced professional Guide Service on Devils Lake.
Ever hear the expression, The Dog Days of Fishing in August? Well apparently the walleye and pike of Devils Lake, North Dakota haven’t heard that one. No dog days of fishing here! The great bite of the Summer of 2017 continues unabated.
Here we are six days into August and if anything the bite is getting even better. Mitchell’s Guide Service guided groups of anglers continue to catch limits of eater walleyes plus the larger trophy walleye. A couple of passing thunderstorms may affect the bite in August for a half day or so but the good bite with the stable August weather is something to experience.
When these fish are biting, just about anywhere in the system will produce good catches. Check out our weekly photos and you will see our staff of experienced Mitchell’s guides continue to put our customers on good fish daily. The daily limit of walleyes at Devils Lake is 5 per person with 10 in possession. While there is no size limit here at Devil’s Lake, we encourage releasing fish larger than 22 inches and smaller than 15 inches.
These walleye in the Devils Lake system are very fat and healthy. You will find that the good eating walleye and pike out of the Devils Lake basin taste wonderful. They make for excellent table fare. So bring a big cooler for your fillets when you come!
With our expanded staff of guides for 2017 we have openings for August and September. Two of the best months for fishing in my opinion! Mitchell’s Guide Service can handle groups of just about any size. From two people on a day trip too large corporate outings. We also offer package trips that include lodging and meals along with the guiding. There is no better time than right now to get in on the fabled fishing that Devil’s Lake,
North Dakota offers! Just pick up the phone and give us a call at 701-662-5996 extension 1. Or for more information on our guide service at fishdevilslake.net.. Jigging in weedy, structure filled areas, as well as trolling over structure or contour lines from 20-30 feet. Spinners and nightcrawlers have proven effective on East Bay, with fish moving deep. Jigging leeches works as well earlier in the day.
