The Devils Lake Fishing Report for the week of June 26th to July 2nd, 2017. Brought to you by Mitchell’s Guide Service. The largest, the most experienced, professional guide service serving the Devils Lake basin.
This past week we saw some very good fishing with our clients and guides. Lake traffic has been increased due to the Fourth of July, and the beautiful weather, however good catches seem to be the norm by anglers who understand fishing the Devils Lake system. This upcoming week, the temperature is projected to continue to climb, helping out the fisherman. Our guides have been catching fish with their clients throughout the roughly 220 thousand acres that this vast and varied fishery comprises.
Yesterday good reports came in from groups trolling crankbaits, pulling bottom bouncers and spinners, and even one group doing a little jigging. A recent bug hatch is just ending. The walleyes we have been cleaning have been stuffed with bug larvae. It is simply incredible how fat and healthy the walleyes are out of the Devils Lake system are overall. When you look at some of the photos of skinny, sickly looking walleyes from other areas compared to an 18 inch, two and a half pound walleye from Devil’s Lake one realizes how blessed we are to have a fishery with such a strong forage base year after year.
Check out our posted photos and you will agree there are no starving walleyes in Devil’s Lake. Fat healthy well-fed walleyes may need a little coaxing to bite at times but the rewards of doing so are being enjoyed at family fish fries throughout the Midwest. We at Mitchell’s Guide Service would like to thank our customers from the last 2 months for their support, and are looking forward to continuing to fish with all our customers. As we enter July, we are just breaking into the best two months of fishing, July and August.
Our expanded staff of guides is ready to show you just how good fishing can be at Devil’s Lake North Dakota. We have dates open for accommodating you and your group. Whether it be a large corporate group a family outing or only party of two, Mitchell’s Guide Service is here to take care of your needs. So give us a call. Our booking number is 701-662-5996.
