Mother nature teased us with some nice weather over the weekend, but the normal spring conditions are coming back around. The next few days are going to bring us cooler temps and high winds with better weather coming in the middle of next week. Water temps have been between 50-55 degrees over the weekend, but look for that to drop slightly with this cooler weather coming our way.
The Pike have still been going crazy! Pitching any kind of crankbait or jig/plastic is going to produce a pike bite. These fish are very active right now. Look to target areas anywhere from 3-10 foot of water when pike fishing.
Walleyes have been a little tough the last few days with this shift in the weather. After this wind is done blowing (NNW for the next 6 days), look to target those wind-blown shorelines for active walleyes. Anglers are still marking/catching walleyes in depths from 3 to 35 foot of water. Throwing crankbaits and plastics into shallow structure or vertical jigging different types of structure are still the most effective ways to catch these walleyes right now. From shore, look to use a bobber set up or a lindy rig with minnow/leech. These seem to be the most effective presentations to catch walleyes from shore, other than pitching cranks/plastics.
Use extreme caution with these high winds coming the next few days. This lake can get very dangerous when the wind comes up. There are areas on this lake to catch fish and get out of the wind, but use caution in these conditions.
Be Safe! Have Fun!
