The Devils Lake Fishing Report for the week of May 22nd to May 28th 2017. Brought to you by Mitchell’s Guide Service. The largest and most experienced guide service serving the Devils Lake system.
What a week it has been. Our clients experienced great fishing throughout the week in spite of the up-and-down May weather. Good catches were made of all size walleyes and pike. With the warmer temps a major Improvement from last week was seen in the catches of all our customers. All week long winds were a factor in limiting options for our guides to take their customers, but that did not seem to slow down the bite.
This week we saw water temperatures in the mid-to-upper 50’s. With 15 different guides out at one time or another our guides fished throughout the Devils Lake basin and the warming shallows proved to be where the more aggressive fish were found.
Bobber fishing still reigns supreme, however pitching jigs with plastic and pitching crankbaits were also effective. Surprisingly towards week’s end some of our guides saw an early start to the bottom bouncer spinner season.
The summer months of June, July and August will bring the hottest fishing of the year. As the largest Guide Service on Devil’s Lake, Mitchell’s Guide Service is capable of taking from two people on a one-day guided trip all the way to large corporate groups of 40 or more and everything in between.
We can tailor an outing to your specific needs. So give us a call at 701- 662-5996 and find out for yourself why so many anglers in the Midwest are talking about and fishing Devils Lake North Dakota.
