Well here is the first MGS Devils Lake Fishing Report for the summer of 2017. The week of April 30 to May 6th. One of our earliest starts.
With the great weather the guiding season has started a bit early this season. Here in the Devils Lake basin the walleye spawn has been completed. While a few milting males may be found in spawning areas, the mature female walleye have completed their reproductive cycle.
Some of our guides have been out with groups this last week. Enjoying the good weather they have reported very good to excellent fishing. Walleyes and pike are being taken shallow. Stable days where the sun warms the shallows has resulted in some very hot bites.
Fronts with lower temps and high winds can quickly kill the shallow bite for a day or two this time of the year. However, the weather looks good this week and that means another hot bite. Our guides are excited about how good already fishing at Devils Lake has become.
Now would be a great time to book an early season trip with us here at Mitchell’s Guide Service. With the good spring we are experiencing, the possibility of some extra days of fishing fun await you. We have a number of lodging and guiding packages available or just drive up for a day of fishing. The fish are biting and our guides are ready. So just give us a call at 701-662-5996.
Come share in the fun! Happy days are here again!
