Spent 4 days on Devils Lake. We were in a group of 4 Ice Castles. I just want to give the resort a big shout out. They plowed us spots on fish, and their on-shore shower house was absolutely fantastic. The bar was awesome. Everyone we encountered was great to work with and helped make our trip great. I can't say enough good things about our experience. We will definitely be back to Woodland whenever we fish Devils.

All questions and policies
When is ice fishing season?

Fish house rentals run from mid-December to March 14, sunrise to sunset. SnoBear trips run December 20 to March 15, depending on ice.

When is the big ice fishing tournament on Devils Lake?

The Devils Lake Volunteer Fire Department Ice Fishing Tournament is held on Six Mile Bay on a Saturday in late January and draws thousands of anglers. It is one of the busiest weekends of the winter around the lake, so book lodging and fish houses early. The fire department announces each year's date and registration.

Can I drive to my fish house?

Yes, on the plowed ice roads. A team member leads the way, and staff also give rides to and from the houses.

Where can I clean and freeze my fish?

The heated four-season fish cleaning station has stainless steel counters, several sinks, a hose, a pressure washer, freezers and a waste dump station. It is open to guests all year.

Do I need a fishing license?

Yes, every angler needs a North Dakota fishing license. Buy one online from North Dakota Game and Fish (gf.nd.gov). If you couldn't buy one ahead of time, the bait shop staff can help.

How many lines can I fish?

North Dakota allows 4 lines per angler. We plan 2 holes per person inside the houses and drill extra holes outside for tip-ups on request.

Are pets allowed?

Pets are welcome but must be on a leash unless on the beach. The fee is $20 a day or $100 a week for pets inside rooms. Pets aren't allowed on rental boats.
